Growing up, I was always taught that there were 9 planets: Mercury, Mars, Earth, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus,  Neptune and Pluto. But, all of that changed when on this day, August 24, 2006, scientists reclassified Pluto as a dwarf planet, and said that there were only 8 planets in our solar system.

Up in Northern Maine, there's a scale model of the solar system. We always look for some of the planets on our way to Presque Isle and Caribou during basketball season. The sun is at the University of Maine Presque Isle, and Pluto is at the Houlton Visitor's Center. When Pluto was "demoted" they didn't remove the model of Pluto so it got me thinking
