It isn't easy being a mascot! AJ Mass was Mr. Met, the New York Met's mascot from 1994 to 1997. Given the Mets' record the mascot's job was hard enough, but in Mass' book “Yes, It’s Hot in Here: Adventures in the Weird, Woolly World of Sports Mascots,” with an excerpt published on Sports Illustrated’s website this week, Mass describes that when President Clinton came to the Mets-Dodgers game on April 15, 1997, he was making his way to the President' box, when he was stopped by the secret service and warned twice, that there were snipers throughout the stadium, and that if he approached President Clinton, they would go for the kill shot!
