Mookie’s Home Run Hat Trick [VIDEO]
Mookie Betts set franchise history last night when he became the first Boston Red Sox player to hit three home runs as a leadoff hitter in a 6-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles.
Betts led off the game with a homer, he hit a 3-run homer in the second inning and then blasted another one in the seventh inning. Betts finished with five RBI. He now has 12 homers and 40 RBI from the leadoff position.
Meanwhile, Eduardo Rodriquez made his season debut and looked good for six innings. E-Rod threw 89 pitches, allowing two runs, six hits. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter.
At 32-20, the Sox now have a three game lead over the O's for first place in the AL East with the third game in this series tonight. The pregame starts at 6:20 PM and first pitch at 7:05 PM.
