The MDI High School Class of 2015 will be celebrating their graduation on Sunday, June 14th at 2 PM. WDEA Internet Radio will be live streaming the graduation, and we will have video of the graduation on our website afterwards.

    Ethan Craigo

    Ethan Craigo is one of two class marshals in the 2015 MDIHS graduation ceremony. He is a member of National Honor Society and a National Merit Scholarship finalist who has worked as an intern for the Jackson Laboratory. Outside of the classroom, he is a four-year varsity member of the cross-country and outdoor track teams. He has played piano for the school’s jazz ensemble and numerous small jazz combo groups, occasionally providing musical accompaniment for benefits around the island. On the stage he has participated in three of MDI’s state-winning show choirs and taken on roles in Acadia Community Theatre musicals. He is a very active singer, a member of both of Maine’s All State choirs and the Mount Desert Summer Chorale. He will be attending Harvard College in the fall and looks forward to concentrating in computer science there while still pursuing musical interests. He is the son of John Craigo and the late Peggy Kotter of Bar Harbor.

    Helena Munson

    Helena Munson is a graduating senior at Mount Desert Island High School and has been chosen as a featured speaker. Academically, she is an avid lover of life science and the natural world and has pursued that interest over the past four years. Helena recently completed an internship at the Jackson Laboratory over her senior year. She has also been involved in volleyball, swimming, the spring play, sailing and National Honor Society throughout high school. Helena will be attending the University of Massachusetts in the fall with the hopes of pursuing pre-medicine with a major in life science. She is the daughter of Amy and Brent Walls of Mount Desert.

    Will Greene

    Will Greene is a senior class officer and he has been chosen to represent his class as a speaker at graduation. He has played soccer all four years and is a 3-time state champion diver. Academically, he is primarily interested in math and science and is a 2015 National Merit Scholarship winner. He is a member of Student Council and National Honor Society. Outside of school, he is a member of the MDI YMCA Board of Directors and spends time volunteering for Friends of Acadia. He loves the outdoors, and spends most of his time biking, hiking, paddling, photographing, and exploring in Acadia National Park. In the fall, he will be attending Middlebury College in Vermont to study environmental science and biology.  Will is the son of Bo Greene and the late Craig Greene of Bar Harbor.

    Genevieve Goebel

    Genevieve Goebel is one of the marshals for the class of 2015.  She has been a co-chair of the Student Council, member of Operation Breaking Stereotypes group, has been on the Math Team, has cheered on both the Fall and Winter teams for all four years, has been on the Outdoor Track team for all four years, was a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions, and is a member of the National Honors Society. Genevieve was awarded this year’s Peace Award for her efforts to mediate conflict in and outside of school.  Geni is the daughter of Peter and Cathleen Goebel of Lamoine and will be attending University of Massachusetts in the fall to study Engineering.

    David Anderson

    David Anderson is one of the Senior Class officers of the class of 2015. David has participated in the Show Choir Pit Orchestra, Sailing, Cross-Country, Hearing Committee, National Honor Society, and the MDIHS Interact Club. He has also worked as an Intern for Friends of Acadia’s Acadia Youth Technology Team for two summers. During his Junior year he spent Fall Semester in Colorado at the High Mountain Institute, a small school that couples academics with backcountry travel and leadership training. He will be attending Bowdoin College in the Fall. David is the son of John and Karen Anderson of Town Hill.

    Emma Fernald

    Emma Fernald was born and raised on Mount Desert Island. She has always played soccer and participated in other extracurriculars. Throughout high school, Emma has been the captain of the Varsity Soccer and Indoor Track teams and a member of the Varsity Outdoor Track team. She also participated in the Interact Club all four years and was president of the club her senior year. During her senior year, she also assumed the position as a Class Officer. Emma plans to attend Lesley University with a major in Art Therapy and minor in Fine Arts. She hopes to one day become an Art Therapist who works with kids and teens with special needs.  Emma is the daughter of Vicky and Mark Fernald of Bar Harbor.

    Kendra Bonsey

    Kendra Bonsey, daughter of Michael and Diane Bonsey, is a senior class officer for the MDIHS class of 2015. She has been an active participant in many school programs as a dance captain for the fall musical and show choir, treasurer of the Interact Club, recipient of the 2014 Dartmouth Book Award, and officer of National Honor Society. Kendra also co-choreographed the award winning show choir productions this year. Next year she will be attending Dickinson College to study chemistry and archaeology.
