Principal Marianne DeRaps of Sumner Memorial High School has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2013.  Commencement exercises will be held at the Clint Ritchie Gymnasium on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.

Valedictorian is Danielle Bagley, daughter of Troy & Dondi Bagley of Sullivan.  She plans to attend Colby College with a major in psychology.  Bagley is a member of the National Honor Society.  She has participated in volleyball, student council and show choir.  Danielle has had many hours of community service while attending the Upward Bound program in Orono.

Salutatorian is Hannah Woodward, daughter of Nick & Ann Woodward of Corea, a village in the town of Gouldsboro   She plans to attend the University of Maine in the fall with a major in international affairs.  Woodward has participated in the show choir, jazz choir and Student Council.  She is a member of the National Honor Society.  Her community service activities include volunteering with Schoodic Arts for All and with CARE working to change the suffering of women and children immersed in poverty.

 

 

 

 

First honor essayist is Sierra Weeks, daughter of Jeanne Weeks of Gouldsboro and Fernando Weeks of Fredricksburg, Virginia.  Weeks will be attending Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science pursuing a career in the medical field.  Weeks has been a member of the soccer team, show choir as well as the jazz choir.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and has volunteered many hours to the school’s music program.

 

Second honor essayist is Kyle Jordan, son of Greg and Lisa Jordan of Sullivan.    He will be attending Thomas College in the fall.  Jordan has participated in cross country, indoor track, outdoor track and was a Boys State representative.  He is a member of the school’s math team and the National Honor Society.  Jordan has volunteered in many school and community events.
