Air Quality Alert For Sunday

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has issued an air quality alert for the entire coastline of Maine including Coastal Hancock and Coastal Washington Counties on Sunday, June 11th from 10 AM  to 11 PM. This alert extends inland for 15 miles for elevated levels of ground ozone.

The Hancock County Relay for Life begins at 5 PM Friday night June 2nd with the Closing Ceremonies starting at 8AM on Saturday, June 3rd. As a two time cancer survivor I thank you all for walking, participating and raising money to fight this terrible disease!

April is National Autism Month. Autism is a developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life. It is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain, and occurs in approximately 1 out of every 68 births. Autism is five times more prevalent in boys (1 in 42) than girls (1 in 89) and knows no racial, ethnic or social boundaries. Family income, lifestyle and educational levels do not affect the chance of autism’s occurrence.

I love Relay for Life! The Hancock County Relay for Life will be held June 2-3 at the Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School. The event raises around $75,000 annually to help fight cancer. Teams are working hard now, fundraising in anticipation of the June event.

I ran my 1st road race in Maine today, at the age of 56! I ran, and I have video proof (see below) the Down East Family YMCA .0002K Couch Potato Road Race!  Now, in honesty it was a bit longer than .0002K, it was more like 50-75 yards, and there wasn't a water station!
