The tragic shooting in Lewiston has resulted in many High School Playoff games to be shuffled to Tuesday, October 31st, Halloween, causing a real problem with families with older children playing in what could be their last game of the season and those having younger children who are looking forward to going Trick-or-Treating.

Let me state that I don't believe anyone is complaining terribly about the games being postponed because of the manhunt and out of an abundance of caution. I think that the Maine Principal's Association has done an admirable job of trying to thread an impossible needle given all the factors.

That being said, we need to give a special shoutout to parents from Bucksport and Stearns, who have come up with a terrific solution, but it can only happen with your help!

They are going to offer trick-or-treating on the track/field at halftime of the Bucksport-Stearns semifinal on Halloween. But to do that, they need your help. They need volunteers to

  1. Donate Candy
  2. Donate little baggies for candy
  3. Make up little baggies of candy
  4. Help hand the candy out!

If you are able to help and are from Bucksport, please message Matt McInnis or Katie Littlefield on Facebook. If you are from the Millinocket area and want to help, please message Dave Michaud.

I'm also asked to remind you that the Bucksport Booster Club's concession stand will be pumping out some amazing food and to stop by and have some "suppah" and help raise money for the boosters!
