For the first time this season the Red Sox have been swept in a series. The Detroit Tigers completed the three game sweep Wednesday afternoon, winning 4-3.

The up-to-now reliable closer Brad Ziegler gave up a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to Miguel Cabrera.

It was the first run Ziegler has given up since joining the Sox.

Eduardo Rodriquez pitched 5.2 innings, giving up three runs on nine hits.

Dustin Pedroia and Xander Bogaerts hit homers for the Sox.

A Mookie Betts triple tied the game 3-3 in the eighth inning but again a Sox pitcher could not follow up with a shut down inning.

The Sox drop to 55-44 and head out west for their next 11 games. The Red Sox play 4 games with the Angels, 4 games with the Mariners and 3 games with the Dodgers. Thursday night's pregame with the Angels starts at 9:20 PM on AM 1370 WDEA.
