On May 31, 2013 at approximately 1:50 AM, the Bar Harbor Police Department received a complaint of vandalism at the Mount Desert Island High School. An investigation revealed that several subjects illegally entered the locked building and vandalized it by dumping approximately 25 gallons of lobster bait throughout the first floor of the school. As a result of the vandalism, the MDI High School was forced to cancel all classes for the day.

With the cooperation of the Mount Desert Island Police Department, the Southwest Harbor Police Department and the Maine State Police, five persons of interest were located and subsequently arrested and charged with Burglary and Aggravated Criminal Mischief. There were four adults, all seniors and one juvenile. All subjects were bailed from the Bar Harbor Police Department on Personal Recognizance. With the exception of the juveline, the four adults have been issued a Superior Court date of July 25th, 2013.
