Trojans Run Away From Lynx 86-47

The MDI Boy's Basketball Team stayed perfect, improving to 5-0 on the season, defeating the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx 86-47 in Lincoln on Tuesday, December 27th. It was a game that was played with a frenetic pace that had the referees eyeing my water in the 2nd Quarter!

MDI jumped out to a 29-16 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Riley Swanson hit 3 3-pointers and had 11 points in the Quarter. Graham Good had 9 points, Derek Collin had 4 points and Devin Parlatore had 2 points for MDI while Drew Rich was 1-2 from the free throw line for the Trojans. For Mattanawcook Academy Logan Thompson had 8 points with 2 3-pointers, Cayden Spencer-Thompson had 4 points, while Alex Brown and Carter Ward each had 2 points for the Lynx.

MDI extended their lead at the end of the 1st Half, 49-30. Swanson had 2 more 3-pointers and a field goal, to give him 8 in the quarter and 19 in the Half. Russell Kropff had 4 points and Andrew Phelps, Gus Reeves, Drew Rich, and Derek Collin all chipped in with 2 points each for the Trojans. For the Lynx, Jordan Hanscom had 6 points, Alex Brown, Corbett Arnold, Spencer-Thompson each had 2 points while Carter Ward and Jackson Weatherbee each were 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 3rd Quarter, MDI's defense clamped down, limiting the Lynx to just 5 points while scoring 26 to take a 75-35 lead. Gus Reeves, Russell Kropff and Devin Parlatore each had 5 points, each with a 3-pointer. Mac Shea had 4 points, Drew Rich had a 3-pointer and Andrew Phelps, and Graham Good each had 2 points for MDI. For Mattanawcook Academy Nate Ring had 2 points, Corbett Arnold was 2-2 from the free throw line and Jordan Hanscom was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI put everyone in the scorebook with the exception of James McConomy. The Trojans drained 10 3-pointers, 5 by Swanson and 1 each by Gus Reeves, Drew Rich, Russell Kropff, Devin Parlatore and Drew Shea. MDI was led by Riley Swanson with 19 points and Graham Good had 11 points. The Trojans were 12-16 from the free throw line.

Mattanawcook Academy was led by Logan Thompson with 10 points, while Corbett Arnold had 8 points. The Lynx were 15-24 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 5-0 and are scheduled to play Caribou on Thursday December 29th at 6:30 PM and Presque Isle on Friday, December 30th at 2:30 in Bar Harbor weather permitting. Both games will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Mattanawcook Academy is now 0-7 and will play host to Lee Academy on Tuesday, January 3rd at 7 PM.
