Trojans Beat Orono 63-48 [Box Score/Recap/Photos]

The MDI Trojans played their 2nd game in as many nights on Thursday, February 1st, beating the Orono Red Riots 63-48 in Bar Harbor. Derek Collin scored a game high 27 points to help the lead the Trojans to victory.

MDI jumped out to a 21-12 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Derek Collin scored 8 points, Finn McConomy had 2 3-pointers, Drew Shea had a 3-pointer and Dane Vanzura and Eli Parady had 2 points each. For Orono Jason Desisto had 10 points with 2 3-pointers and Zack Dill had 2 points.

MDI outscored Orono 15-11 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 36-23 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Collin added 10 points, Colby Lee had a 3-pointer and Dane Vanzura had 2 points. For the Red Riots Dill had 4 points with a 3-pointer, Jonathan Steelman had a 3-pointer and Sam Martin and Ryan Shorette added 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored Orono 15-11 to increase their lead 51-34. McConomy had 7 points with a 3-pointer and Derek Collin and Dane Vanzura each had 4 points. For Orono Jonny Spencer had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Desisto had a 3-pointer and Chance Walston had 3 points.

In the 4th Quarter Derek Collin had 5 more points for the Trojans and McConomy drained his 4th 3-pointer of the night. For Orono Desisto and Evan Kenefic each had 5 points, each with a 3-pointer. Steelman hit his 2nd 3-pointer and Walston went 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Derek Collin with a game high 27 points. Finn McConomy had 16 points. The Trojans were 5-6 from the free throw line.

Orono was led by Jason Desisto with 18 points. The Red Riots were 3-5 from the free throw line.

The Trojans, 12-3 will play their 3rd game in 3 days on Friday, February 2nd, when they travel to Foxcroft Academy to play the Ponies at 7PM.
