State police have charged a Trenton man with murder in connection with skeletal remains that were discovered last weekend. The victim may have been missing for more than a year before his remains were found.

Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says 43-year-old William Morse, also known as Bill Tool, was arrested after slipping away from a home in Dedham earlier on Thursday. State police attempted to make contact with Morse while he was at a home on Peake's Hill Road in Dedham but he slipped out undetected and got a ride with a friend.

MDEA agents spotted him at G and M Store on Route 1A in Holden and he was taken into custody along the road a short time later. Morse has been taken to the Hancock County Jail and will make his first court appearance tomorrow.

He was wanted in connection to skeletal remains that were found near the home of 60-year-old Richard Belliteiri, who police say may have been missing for more than a year. No one had ever reported the man, who owned property in Trenton and Mount Desert, as missing but he hadn't been seen since June of 2012. His disappearance was recently discovered by the Bar Harbor Police Department, who then notified the State Police.

McCausland says the two men did know each other. Belliteiri worked as an accountant, and detectives are looking for anyone who may have had contact with him prior to his likely disappearance last summer. In addition, police would like to talk to anyone who has had contact with Morse over the past year. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police in Orono at 866-2122.
