Sumner Girls Fall to Searsport 41-29

The Searpsort Girl's Basketball Team defeated Sumner 41-29 on Monday, December 19th in Sullivan.

Searsport jumped out to a 15-7 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Brooklyn Alberts drained 2 3-pointers, Paige Ireland had 4 points, Mikaela Alley had 3 points and Ashten Wellsw had 2 points for the Vikings. For Sumner Mariah Kinghorn had 3 points and Kaytlin Pinkham and Anna Young each had a basket.

Sumner cut the lead by 2 points going into the Half, 25-19 as they outscored Searsport 12-10 in the 2nd Quarter. Emma Bunch had 4 points, with a 3-pointer, and Anna Young, Alexis Hutchins, Kala Young and Maggie Perry all added a basket for the Tigers. For Searsport Ireland had 7 points including a 3-pointer, while Wells had 2 points and Alley went 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 3rd Quarter the Searsport defense ratched up the pressure, limiting Sumner to just 2 points, scored by Kala Young to take a 34-21 lead. Searsport received 4 points from Alley, and 3 points from Karigen Coffin while Wells added 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Sumner outscored Searsport 8-7 but it wasn't enough to cut the deficit. Ashley Church, Emma Bunch, Alexis Hutchins and Maggie Perry all had 2 points for the Tigers. For Searpsort Alley had 6 points and Ireland 1 point.

Searsport was led by Mikaela Alley with 14 points while Paige Ireland had 12 points. The Vikings were 10-22 from the free throw line.

Sumner was led by Emma Bunch with 6 points, while Anna Young, Alexis Hutchins, Kala Young and Maggie Perry all had 4 points. Sumner was 2-2 from the free throw line.

Searsport is now 1-3 and play Bangor Christian on Thursday, December 22nd at 5 PM.

Sumner is now 1-2 and plays at George Stevens Academy on Thursday, December 22nd at 7 PM.
