Sullivan Woman Killed Tuesday Morning In ATV Crash

A woman from Sullivan died early Tuesday morning in an ATV accident, and her passenger was injured.

Officials with the Hancock County Sheriff's Office told the BDN that 25-year-old Whitney Doughty was driving a side-by-side machine on the Punkinville Road in Sullivan very early Tuesday morning. She was headed towards Route 1 when the ATV drifted across the road and hit a tree. Doughty died in the crash, while her passenger, 25-year-old Garrett Young of Sullivan, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident was reported just before 2 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators say both Doughty and Young were wearing safety belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
