Rick Porcello made his return to the mound in the series finale against Chicago and so to did his dominant sinker ball that allowed him to pitch 7 scoreless innings in a Red Sox 3-0 win.Porcello returned after a trip to the disabled list for what the team described as a tricep strain. Porcello used the time off to re-focus his approach on the mound which seemed to work as he allowed just 5 hits and struck out 5 for his 6th win of the season.

Matching Porcello's performance was Chicago's Chris Sale who pitched 7 shutout innings himself. Once he departed, Boston was able to get on the scoreboard with Travis Shaw launching a 2-run homer to right field. Josh Ruttledge added a sacrifice fly in the 9th for added insurance and help the Sox win the series.

Boston will get tonight off before diving back into inter-league play with a weekend series at the New York Mets.
