Ellsworth High School's Sarah Shelton was named the Gatorade Maine Volleyball Player of the Year, today, December 11, 2014. She is the first Gatorade Maine Volleyball Player of the Year to be chosen from Ellsworth High School!

The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court, distinguishes Shelton as Maine's best high school volleyball player in 2014-15!

The 6-1 senior outside hitter slammed 192 kills while producing a .508 kill percentage this past season. Shelton was also selected as the Player of the Year by the Maine Volleyball Coach's Association. She totaled 157 service receptions, 102 digs, 84 assists and 56 service aces.

Shelton has maintained a 3.87 GPA in the classroom and is also the treasurer of the Ellsworth Student Council. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.
