Baseball fans in Kansas City have waited 30 years to celebrate a World Series Championship, on Tuesday the wait was over as the Royals paraded throught the city and took time to thank their fans.

Team officials estimate that nearly 800,000 fans lined the streets and watched from nearby buildings as the team made their way through the city. Knowing that many children would be in attendance, schools in the city were closed for the day as well.

The parade ended at the city's historic Union Station where team officials and players gave their thoughts about winning the title and took a moment to thank fans and the city.
