A 3-year-old girl from Augusta, who was the subject of an Amber Alert on Tuesday, is safe after police say she was brought to the Augusta Police Department.

Emergency crews responded to the girl's Sewall Street home early Tuesday morning after reports of a medical emergency involving the girl's mother. The mother was taken to the hospital. Her daughter, Lenore Wilson, was missing from the home, sparking an Amber Alert at about 3:25 p.m.

In a news release issued at about 5:35 p.m., Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said the girl was safe and had been brought to the Augusta Police Department.

The release did not say who took the child to the police department. Police had said they suspected the child was with Fatima Gissentaner, 26, of New York, who goes by the nickname "China" and occasionally looks after the child.

Police had also said the woman's boyfriend, nicknamed “Dollar” and also from New York, was possibly with Gissentaner and the child when the Amber Alert was issued.
