The MDI Volleyball Team had their season come to an end Wednesday night, October 29th when Falmouth the #3 seed came to Bar Harbor and defeated the MDI Trojans the #2 seed, 3-1. The individual game scores were 25-23, 25-16, 22-25, and 25-18.
Coach Corey's take on the game
"First off, I want to say that I think the season in general was immensely successful. We had a group of girls come together so cohesively and it was such a pleasure to coach them. They were motivated, collaborative, supportive, and selfless. You could not ask for a better group. And they took that teamwork and turned it into a 14-2 record and second place in Class A. We had opportunities to beat Falmouth tonight, which is hard to swallow sometimes, but they played hard and were in it the whole way. I'm very proud of what they've accomplished and do not believe the loss tonight in any way diminishes that. They were in the match right from the start, and I don t think Falmouth expected that. When our offense got going it was hard to stop. That and our serving were great tonight. Falmouth blocked well and played great defense and that was the difference. I think we had them figured out offensively and they didn't put too many hard balls away; their shots seemed to be very safe. Our girls were pretty aggressive right on through. It s heartbreaking to get so close and see it slip through your fingers. I wish the girls could have gone on to the next stage, where I believe they would have been very successful, but in the end they played their best all season long and no one can take that away from them.
