The MDI Girl's Softball Team finished their home season in style, sweeping the Caribou Vikings, 20-3 in a mercy rule shortened 5 inning game and then winning 8-1 in game 2.

In the first game, Haley Littlefield pitched a 1 hitter, allowing 3 runs, none of which were earned, and walked 1 while striking out 4.

MDI scored 10 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, sending 16 batters to the plate. They had 5 hits, in the inning, with singles from Shelby O'Neil, Avalon Kerley, Katie Guarino and a double and single from Sierra Myrick. Caribou's pitcher Danica Walker hit Avalon Kerley, Anna Busker, Haley Littlefield and Hannah Shaw. The Viking catcher had a tough game behind the plate, as she allowed 10 passed balls during the game.

MDI added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Busker and Littlefield were hit by the pitcher and Busker scored on an O'Neil single and Littlefield scored on a  single by Avalon Kerley.

MDI added 6 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, as they sent 12 batters to the plate. MDI received singles from Molly Carroll, Anna Busker, Avalon Kerley and Shelby O'Neil.

MDI pushed across 2 more runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, with singles by Aubrie Boyce and Riley Moores.

In Game 2 the highlight was Shelby O'Neil's two run, over the fence home run in the bottom of the 4th inning. That was her second to last regular season at bat at home!

MDI is now 10-5. They finish their regular season Tuesday, June 3rd at Ellsworth at 4:30
