MDI Girls 47 Orono 30

The MDI Girl's Basketball Team beat Orono 47-30 on Thursday, February 2nd in the last regular season home game at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor on Senior Recognition Night. Playing their last regular season home game were Maya Watras, Abbe Miller, Emma Watras and Mariah Hamor.

MDI jumped out to a 9-3 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Julia Watras had a 3-pointer, Maddy Candage had 4 points and Maya Watras 2 points for the Trojans. For Orono Kassidy Dill had 2 points and Hannah Steelman was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI increased the lead to 7 points at the end of the 1st Half 18-11. In the 2nd Quarter Maddy Good had 5 points for MDI while Maddy Candage and Alexis Clarito chipped in with 2 points each. For Orono Steelman had a 3-pointer and Kassidy Dill had 3 points while Molly McCluskey had 2 points.

MDI's lead was still 7 points at the end of the 3rd Quarter, 26-19. In the 3rd Quarter Candage had 4 points while Mariah Hamor and Alexis Clarito each had 2 for MDI. For Orono Dill had 4 points including a 3-pointer, and Isabel Henderson and Lauren Melanso each had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter MDI outscored Orono 21-11. Abbe Miller had 5 points including a 3-pointer for MDI. Maya Watras, Emily Banks and Julia Link each had 4 points, while Alexis Clarito and Julia Watras each had 2 points for the Trojans.

For Orono, Hannah Steelman had 3 points, Kassidy Dill, Molly McCluskey, and Lauren Melanso each had 2 points while Katelyn Richards and Isabel Henderson had 1 point each.

MDI was led by Maddy Candage with 10 points while Maya Watras,and Alexis Clarito had 6 points each. MDI was 8-19 from the free throw line.

Orono was led by Kassidy Dill with a game high 11 points while Hannah Steelman had 7 points. The Red Riots were 12-26 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 10-6 on the season and in 8th place in the Heal Point standings. The Trojans have 2 regular season games remaining, this Saturday, February 4th at Houlton at 4:30 and then at Ellsworth in the last regular season game on Wednesday, February 8th at 7 PM. Orono is 4-11 with 3 games remaining in the regular season. The Red Riots play at home against PCHS on Saturday, February 4th at 7 PM, then on the road against Foxcroft Academy on Monday, February 6th at 7 PM and at Old Town on Wednesday, February 8th at 7 PM.
