The MDI and Ellsworth Boy's Soccer teams battled to a 1-1 tie after double overtime at Ellsworth High School on Thursday, September 22nd.

MDI scored first as Joe Grubb found the ball in the Ellsworth box when Ellsworth was unable to clear, and fired it in the back of the net, with just 56 seconds elapsed (39:04). Grubb's goal gave MDI the 1-0 lead.

The score stayed that way, until Jack Lee headed the ball into the net for the Eagles, with 36:33 remaining in regulation.

The teams battled through two five minute overtime periods, before settling for the tie.

Peyton Cole was in goal for Ellsworth, while Kendrew VanGorder was the goalkeeper for the Trojans.

Ellsworth had 17 shots on goal, while MDI had 18.

Ellsworth is now 4-2-1 and play at Old Town on Monday, September 26th at 3:30.

MDI is 2-4-2 and play host to John Bapst on Monday, September 26th at 6 PM.

Earlier, the MDI JV Team defeated Ellsworth 5-0.
