It was a rough trip to East Machias for the MDI Boy's Soccer Team, as they fell to the Washington Academy Black Raiders 9-3 on Monday afternoon, October 3rd.

MDI took a 1-0 lead with just under 5 minutes  having elapsed on a goal by Jake Ressel.

14 minutes later, Washington Academy tied the score with a goal by Khiari Hayward. The Black Raiders then scored 3 goals in the first half, by Oneko Lowe, Michaiah Robinson and Feriorino Gombo before MDI answered with a late first half goal by Joe Grubb.

At the end of the 1st Half, Washington Academy led 4-2.

In the 2nd Half, Lowe and Manuel Sanchez each scored two goals, giving Lowe a hat trick.

Joe Grubb scored his 2nd goal of the game for MDI with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game. By then the score was 8-3.

Lowe added his 4th goal of the game with less than 10 minutes remaining to make the final 9-3.

MDI is now 2-6-2. The Trojans will hope to rebound Wednesday when they play host to Old Town on Wednesday October 5th at 6 PM. the Tojans were nipped by Old Town 3-2 on September 20th in Old Town.

Washington Academy is 8-0 and plays at Sumner Memorial High School on Wednesday, October 5th at 4 PM.
