This Charming Maine Town Tops the List for Family-Friendly Vacations
One of Maine's top tourist destinations is in the spotlight once again, this time for being the state's leader in family tourism.
That's according to a report released by Travel Pulse, a website dedicated to travel. The experts put together an article with every state's top destination for family tourism. Maine's representative is none other than Bar Harbor. The Hancock County town is one of Maine's most popular spots for both tourists and locals.
Located on Mount Desert Island, Bar Harbor glistens with impeccable views, exquisite dining, a wealth of accommodation options, plenty of shopping, and access to the iconic Acadia National Park. In fact, Bar Harbor is where the majority of Acadia can be found, including hot spots like Cadillac Mountain, Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, and the Visitor Center.
Bar Harbor's family-friendly options seem endless. Numerous mini golf courses can be found around the area, as well as small family fun parks. Plus, for the truly adventurous family, airplane sightseeing tours are available.
This is also a town where there's plenty to do without spending a dime. Just walking around the old island village can be a joyful experience. There's just so much to witness and gaze at. Heck, even the people watching is top-notch.
But don't just take my word for it. Here's what Travel Pulse had to say about the site's top Maine family destination.
Home to year-round recreational opportunities-and a summer season full of fun like nowhere else on the Eastern Seaboard-Bar Harbor is the ultimate family travel destination. Explore the pathways, vistas, and shoreline of Acadia National Park before enjoying attractions in town.
Congrats to Bar Harbor on this fine press. It's about time this magical hamlet of Maine got some national attention (no sarcasm there, folks).
In all seriousness, it is a special place. It's also a perfect representation of all things Maine, from the fresh seafood to the incredible landscape. The only issue I have with it is my lack of time up there. I have only experienced the town a few times. That definitely needs to change, because Bar Harbor is true Maine.
