This Orono Restaurant Serves Up The Best Chinese Cuisine
When it comes to Chinese restaurants, the greater Bangor area has quite a few good options to choose from. Some places offer buffets. Some are purely take-out. But there's one spot in Orono that's been serving up some of the best Chinese Cuisine in the area for almost two decades!
China Garden in Orono used to sit at the very end of the shopping complex on Stillwater Avenue, where Spotlight Cinema (now Black Bear Cinema) used to be.
A quiet little spot, this restaurant is a hidden gem if you're a fan of authentic Chinese food made fresh to order.
The restaurant is owned and run by veteran restaurateur Christine Chou, who some might remember from her time running House of Hunan in Brewer, China Wall, and Chopsticks in Bangor. She has most recently thrown all of her energy into China Garden, which is now located where the old Burger King used to be on Stillwater Ave.
For those who like what most can usually find in a Maine Chinese restaurant, Chou has those items on the menu. While all their food is delicious, what's amazing about China Garden is what's not necessarily listed on the menu, but what's not mentioned.
For those who are daring and willing to trust Chou's decades of experience and knowledge, she can (and will, if you're lucky) make a dish tailored to how you're feeling in the moment.

And let me tell you, if you trust her to make you something special, you will not be disappointed.
Every time I have ever thrown caution to the wind and let her cook what she wanted to for me, she has made THE most delicious dishes I have ever tasted.
It's a really great way for her to share her passion for cooking and her culture and heritage with the community.
So the next time you're craving Chinese food, check out China Garden and let me know what you think.
