They say, "If you don't like the weather in Maine, wait a minute."

We've been waiting, Mother Nature, and this isn't funny anymore.

Despite the fact that we're just a little over a week away from June, the recent stretch of weather has been abysmal at best. And what the weather gods have in store for us at the end of the week will result in a state-wide facepalm.

According to the folks in the know, the US National Weather Service out of Gray, Maine, those who visit vacationland this week might think they're on a winter holiday instead of the kickoff to summer break.

"Late season nor'easter expected to impact New England Thursday into early Friday.  Soaking rains look to be accompanied by some snow in interior sections, with accumulating snowfall possible in elevations of 1,500 ft or higher. This deepening low-pressure system will also bring hazardous marine conditions with seas over 10 feet and gale-force winds."

While mere mention of that four-letter "s-word" snow has many up in arms, that kind of precipitation is quite the norm for the higher elevations across the state, the experts say. And if any flakes do find their way to the lower levels of the state, it's not likely that there will be anything too substantial by way of accumulation, certainly not enough to warrant the need for snow shovels or snow tires.

It's likely to be mostly rain, up to an inch or more, with a wind advisory set with gusts of around 45 miles per hour expected. With wind and rain comes the potential of power outages, so be mindful and prepare.

The realization that we're going to get "soaking rain" after two straight weeks where it seems that's all that we've had isn't a fun thought. For those who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, this weather isn't helping either. It feels like the entire state's been in a depressing funk.
