When it came down to choosing the best donut shops in each state (rough job!) whittling it down to just one in Maine, could not have been an easy task, but when the dust settled, one destination stood above the rest.

HiFi Donuts, in downtown Portland, makes old world-style donuts from scratch each morning. You can get classic flavors like chocolate glazed and fresh coconut, but this places really crushes it when they use Maine ingredients, like with its blueberry frosted crisp and pumpkin pie flavors.

Melissa and Ari Modugno, are a true mom and pop business. They are hands on operators, who work daily to make sure that they always bring the best of what HiFi Donuts has to offer.

HiFi make their creations with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and fry each donut in house daily. The flavors range from traditional honey glazed, to the completely unique Old Port Donut and everything in between. Options range from savory to sweet, for a sensation that will tantalize your taste buds.

They do do 3 styles of donuts:

Crullers- light fluffy and eggy

Cake-rich and dense

Yeast-floral and hoppy made in a traditional paczki recipe

Plus, they offer fresh breakfast sandwiches, hash-browns and lunch sandwiches, and of course, plenty of coffee.
