Where in the Park Did This Happen?
It was just after 1:00 on the afternoon of September 9, 2024 when park rangers were called to a bicycle incident on the Park Loop Road, near the Cadillac North Ridge Trail crossing. When they arrived, they found the cyclist with significant injuries. Officials say that he lost control of his bike after his foot dislodged from a clip-in pedal.
How Badly Was the Man Hurt?
The man wore a helmet but suffered significant injuries after he fell head-first off his bike. Park Rangers arrived on the scene quickly and performed life-saving measures until the Bar Harbor Fire Department could transport the patient to downtown Bar Harbor. From there, he was transferred by a Lifeflight of Maine helicopter to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. According to the BDN, he died two days later from his injuries.
Our sincerest condolences to Mr. Parrett's family and friends.
