After 7 innings on Sunday, June 7th the Boston Red Sox were trailing the Oakland A's 4-0 and things weren't looking good! The Red Sox were 1-26 when trailing in the 7th inning in 2015. But, they erupted for 7 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning, to stun the Oakland A's, 7-4 and sweep the 3 game series! It was the first sweep of the season!

All the starters with the exception of David Ortiz and Mike Napoli had hits, although Big Papi did drive in a run wiht a sacrifice fly in the 8th. Dustin Pedroia was 2-5 and Brock Holt was 2-3. Hanley Ramirez was 2-4 with a double. Pablo Sandoval who returned to the lineup after two days off was 2-4. Rusney Castillo was 2-4 with a homer.

Clay Buchholz pitched 4.2 innings giving up 4 runs, all earned and struck out 4 while walking 2. Steven Wright, who was demoted to the bullpen after the Red Sox decided to go back to 5 starters pitched 3.1 innings of stellar relief to pick up the win. Wright allowed only 1 hit, struck out 2 and walked 1. Tommy Layne pitched the 9th for his first save.

The Red Sox are off on Monday. They play at Baltimore on Tuesday, June 9th with Eduardo Rodriguez the rookie phenom on the mound. E-Rod is 2-0 with a 0.61 ERA. The pregame starts at 6:20 with the first pitch at 7:05 on AM 1370 WDEA
