If adoptable dog Bonnie wrote a want ad, it would look like this:

“Gorgeous girl with a playful personality seeks her one-and-only. Disappointing dates getting you down? I’ll take you for leisurely walks on the coast of Maine in the summer and invite you to build snow forts with me in the winter. I’ll greet you at the door when you get home from work, and I’ll never tell you that your cooking isn’t good enough. I’m game for anything you want to try, and I’ll support you through any career change.

I’m plus-sized and proud of it. I am strong and beautiful. If you love me the way I am, we’ll get along great.

My only dealbreaker is: No cheating. Not with other dogs. Not with cats. Uh-uh.  Don’t even think of bringing them in here. I will know, and we will be done. I mean, if you only look from a distance, I can’t stop you, but… it better not go any farther than that. Also, I’m not interested in having children. I can deal with teenagers if you already have them; 15+ is ok.

To set up a date, give me a call at (207) 667-8088.”

Bonnie is 1.5 years old, and is looking for a home with no other pets and children 15+.

The SPCA of Hancock County is reaching out to our community to help them expand the Society's Clynk program for redeemable bottles and cans.  This is where folks can donate their returnables to the SPCA, and then they can use the $ for things like pet food, pet beds, litter and everything else that keeps the Shelter going. They're are seeking businesses in the Downeast area where they can place Clynk collection bins. The shelter can supply the (trash can sized) bins and Clynk bags for businesses that are interested in providing a place for customers to dispose of bottles and cans while helping the animals. Those who would like to participate can email the shelter at spcahc.development@gmail.com or give them a call at 207-667-8088 for details.
