Hawks Down Eagles 57-46

The Hermon Hawks defeated the Ellsworth Eagles in Hermon, 57-46 on Friday, December 23rd, on the strength of their free throws, going 18-25 from the free throw line while Ellsworth was 3-9 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth led 14-9 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Dylan Taplin had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Bryce Harmon had 4 points, Troy Folmer had a 3-pointer and Jackson Curtis had 2 points for the Eagles. For Hermon Isaac Varney had 4 points, Kent Johnson had a 3-pointer and Jordan Bishop was 2-2 from the free throw line.

In the 2nd Quarter Hermon outscored Ellsworth 15-2 to take a 24-16 lead going into the Half. Bishop had 10 points, Varney 4 points and Cody Hawes was 1-2 from the free throw line for the Hawks. Ellsworth's lone points were scored by Sam Giffin.

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Hermon 15- 12 to cut  the lead 36-31 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Taplin had 2 3-pointers for 6 points, Jared Hamilton had 3 points, Zach Harris, Harmon and Curtis each had 2 points for Ellsworth. For Hermon, Bishop had 6 points, Varney 4 points and Keenan Marseille ahd 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Hermon was 9-14 from the free throw line to seal the win. Varney had 8 points (4-4 from the free throw line), Bishop 6 points, (2-3 from the free throw line), Garrett Trask 4 points (2-3 from the free throw line) and Marseille 3 points (1-4 from the free throw line). Hamilton had 4 points for Ellsworth, Folmer had a 3-pointer, Taplin, Harris, Harmon and Curtis each had 2 points for the Eagles.

Hermon was led by Jordan Bishop with a game high 24 points while Isaac Varney had 20 points.

Ellsworth was led by Dylan Taplin with 13 points, while Bryce Harmon had 8 points.

Ellsworth is now 4-2 and will play host to Presque Isle on Thursday, December 29th at 7:30 PM.

Hermon is 3-1 and plays host to Washington Academy on Tuesday, December 27th at 4:30 PM.
