A suspect on the run from police following a shooting in Maine is caught in Massachusetts.

Acting Director of Security with the Maine Department of Corrections, Dwight Fowles, says 30 year old Paul Coyne was arrested early this morning by Massachusetts State Police.

Coyne was wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting in Gardiner earlier this week.

“It came to my attention yesterday that Paul Coyne, who was on probation with the Maine Department of Corrections, had been involved in a shooting," stated Fowles in a press release.

“We established a command center at the Adult Probation Office in Augusta where we used probation officers and investigators to search for Mr. Coyne. One of our probation officers developed information that Mr. Coyne was in Massachusetts. About 4:30 p.m. we contacted the Massachusetts State Police Fugitive Unit who worked diligently through the night, and Coyne was arrested around 2:00 a.m. A handgun and some drugs were recovered. Paul Coyne was found to be with his girlfriend and another relative."

Coyne was expected to make a court appearance today.
