Ellsworth Wrestling Goes 2-1 on Saturday

The Ellsworth Wrestling Team opened the 2016-17 Season on Saturday, December 10th with matches at Belfast High School against Belfast, Oceanside and Medomak Valley. The Eagles defeated Belfast 42-36, Oceanside 42-26 and lost to Medomak Valley 37-30.

According to information from Coach James Burns, Ellsworth's Tri-Captains, Trent Goodman, Peyton Cole and Josh Wright were a collective 9-0.

In the match against Oceanside, Ellsworth's Peyton Cole, who normally wrestles at the 152 pound weight class, moved up to the 160 pound weight class to wrestle the two time defending State Champion, Ben Ripley. Cole, himself a two time State Champ, dominated the match and won 11-0.

In the 138 pound weight class, Ellsworth's Logan Lord, a sophomore, lost a 8-7 decision to Medomak Valley senior, Steven Thompson.
