The Ellsworth Eagles' Baseball Team hadn't played a game in a week because of the rain, but they didn't let that bother them, as they doubled up John Bapst  6-3, Tuesday afternoon, May 20th at a game played at Ellsworth High School.

John Bapst scored first in the top of the 3rd inning. Cody Lyons reached 1st base on a fielders choice, and then advanced to 2nd base on a single by Joe Archenbault. Lyons scored on a single by Tom Burns.

Ellsworth tied the score in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Nick Bagley doubled to start the inning, and advanced to 3rd base on a ground out by Steven Mahon. Bagley would score on a single by Conor Maguire.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, Ellsworth scored 5 runs. Sid St. Peter doubled to start off the inning, and Mitch Domagala singled. Cooper Henderson grounded to second, with St. Peter and Domagala advancing.  Hunter Cote singled to left, and both St. Peter and Domagala scored on a error by the John Bapst left fielder. Bagley singled and Cote moved to 2nd base. Cote then stole 3rd base, and Silas Davis struck out, so there were 2 outs. But Steven Mahon singled, scoring Cote and Bagley. Mahon stole 2nd, and advanced to 3rd on a single by Conor Maguire. Mahon scored when Brandon Braley reached on an error by the Bapst third baseman. Braley was caught stealing 2nd base for the 3rd out of the inning.At the end of 4 innings, Ellsworth was on top 6-1.

John Bapst scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning. Cody Lyons singled with 2 out, and scored when Joe Archenbault doubled. Archebault scored on two wild pitches, but Conor Maguire struck out Tom Burns to end the game.

Conor Maguire pitched a complete game for the win for Ellsworth. He allowed 3 runs, all earned, and 8 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 9.

Tom Burns pitched 5 innings for John Bapst, getting the loss. He gave up 6 runs, 5 of which were earned. He gave up 9 hits and struck out 5. Harrison Dieuveial pitched 1 inning in relief, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1.

Ellsworth is now 3-5 and has a brutal schedule the rest of the week. They play a doubleheader at Caribou, tomorrow Wednesday, May 21st, then play at Old Town on Thursday, May 22nd and play at home on Friday, May 23rd against Washington Academy.

John Bapst is now 4-6 and plays host to MDI next Tuesday, May 27th at 4:30.
