The last time the Ellsworth Eagles Boy's Soccer team played in the State Class B Finals was in 2010. The 2014 team moved a step closer to returning, with an impressive 6-2 victory over Medomak Valley on Halloween night at Del Luce Stadium in Ellsworth. The Ellsworth Eagles will play host to Oceanside on Wednesday, November 5th in the Eastern Maine Class B Championship Game. Oceanside defeated MDI 2-1 Friday afternoon. The Eastern Maine Championship Game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio, Wednesday, November 5th at 5 PM.

After fairly even play in the first ten minutes, Ellsworth took control of the game. Kyle Golding scored off of a direct kick with 23:39 remaining in the 1st Half (16:21 into the game) to give Ellsworth a 1-0 lead.

With 21:18 left in the 1st Half, Lukas Firestone scored when the ball came to him after it rebounded off the post. That made the score 2-0.

With 14:07 left in the 1st Half (the 25:53 minute) it was 3-0 when Jack Weeks scored with assists from Anthony Gardner and Lukas Firestone. That's the way the 1st Half ended. Ellsworth outshot Medomak Valley 21-6 and had 4 corners, while Medomak had 1 corner.

With 24:27 left in the 2nd Half (55:53 into the game) Jack Weeks scored his second goal of the game, from Anthony Gardner (2nd assist).

Medomak Valley scored with 24:12 left (65:48 into the game) as Patrick Madden scored. Madden would score with 21:27 left as his shot hit the cross bar, and the far sideline referee ruled that the ball bounced off the cross bar and crossed the goal line. That made the score 4-2.

Ellsworth answered with 16:58 left in the game (72:02 into the game) when Conor Maguire headed in a Lukas Firestone flip throw. The score was Ellsworth 5 Medomak Valley 2.

Ellsworth scored the final goal with 2:37 left (77:23 into the game), as Matt Curtis put the ball in the goal with the assist going to Zach McGraw.

Ellsworth finished with 32 shots on goal, while Medomak Valley had 15 shots. Ellsworth had 6 corners, while Medomak had 2. Nick Bagley played the first half in goal for Ellsworth, while Bruce St. Peter played the 2nd Half. Noah Beck played the complete game in goal for the Panthers.

Ellsworth is now 15-0-1 on the season, while Medomak Valley finishes the season at 8-7-1
