The Ellsworth Eagles improved to 11-5 on the season with a 45-34 victory over Hermon on Tuesday night, February 3rd at Katsiaficas Gymansium in Ellsworth. Ellsworth dominated on the boards, outrebounding Hermon 31-15.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 13-4 lead in the 1st Quarter. Bruce St. Peter had 4 points, Cooper Henderson had 4 points, Alex Braley had a 3-pointer for 3 points, and Bryce Harmon had 2 points for Ellsworth. For Hermon Timothy Verrill and Ryan Kelley each had 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter, Ellsworth's defense clamped down even more, and Hermon didn't score until there were a little over 3 minutes remaining in the half. Donte Bennett had 4 points and Tyler Beaton had 2 points for the Hawks. Ellsworth's Nick Bagley, the reigning Big East Boy's Player of the Week, hit an off balance 3-pointer as time expired for 3 points in the quarter. Harmon had 3 points and St. Peter had 2 points, and the Eagles led the Hawks 21-10 at the half.

In the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth increased their lead to 31-17. St. Peter had 6 points, Harmon 4 points for Ellsworth. Beaton had 5 points and Bryce Heiftje had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth was 10-13 from the free throw line. St. Peter had 6 points, including 4-4 from the free throw line. Conor Magure had 2 points, Braley was 2-2 from the free throw line, Harmon was 2-4 from the free throw line  and Bagley was 2-2 from the free throw line. Keenan Marseille had 9 points in the 4th Quarter, including a 3-pointer. Al Hawes, Bennett, Beaton and Joe Plummer each had 2 points for the Hawks.

Ellsworth was led by Bruce St. Peter with a game high 18 points, and he had 6 rebounds. Bryce Harmon had 11 points. Bagley had a game high 9 rebounds. Ellsworth was 15-20 from the free throw line.

Hermon was led by Tyler Beaton and Keenan Marseille who each had 9 points. The Hawks were 5-6 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 11-5 and has two games remaining, home against MDI on Thursday, February 5th at 7:30 PM in a game that will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio and then Friday. February 6th at the Cross Insurance Center against John Bapst at 5 PM.

Hermon is now 12-4 and has two games remaining, home against Old Town on Thursday, February 5th at 7 PM  and then at Caribou on Friday, February 6th at 6:30 PM.
