An elderly Hancock man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in that town on Sunday.

At last report, police were still trying to figure out exactly how the accident happened. Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says 93-year-old Joseph Ryan died shortly after arriving at Northern Light Midcoast Hospital. There were two people from Jonesport in the other vehicle. 53-year-old Michel Taccyl and his passenger, 56-year-old Noel Antenord, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The accident closed a section of Route 1 for about two and a half hours after it was reported at 11:30 Sunday morning.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
