Eagles Drain 3’s En Route to Win

The Ellsworth Eagles drained 8 3-pointers, en route to a 67-52 over the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx at Katsiaficas Gymnasium on Monday, December 19th.

Mattanawcoook Academy jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Ellsworth then went on a 12-0 run, to take a 19-10 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Bryce Harmon had 6 points, Zach Harris had 2 3-pointers, Jackson Curtis had 4 points and Troy Folmer had a 3-pointer for Ellsworth. For Mattanawcook Academy Jordan Hanscom and Corbett Arnold each had 4 points while Carter Ward had 2 points.

Ellsworth increased their lead at the Half, outscoring the Lynx 14-8 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 33-18 lead. Harris and Sam Giffin each had 3-pointers for Ellsworth, while Harmon, and Jared Hamilon had 3 points and Folmer had 2 points. For the Lynx, Ward had 4 points, Nate Ring had 2 points and Alex Brown and Jackson Weatherbee each were 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 3rd Quarter, Harris had 10 points for Ellsworth, with 2 3-pointers, and Harmon and Hamilton each had 4 points for the Eagles. For Mattanawcook Academy Water had 11 points, draining 3 3-pointers. Logan Thompson had a 3-pointer, Brown had 2 points and Hanscom was 1-3 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter, Harris had 8 points including his 6th 3-pointer. Harmon had 6 points, going 4-4 from the free throw line. Hamilton had 2 points and Trent Mahon was 1-2 from the free throw line for Ellsworth. For the Lynx Ward had 8 points, Bailey Markie had a 3-pointer, Arnol and Brady Pepin had 2 points, and Davey Susen and Logan Thompson each were 1-2 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Zach Harris who had a game high 26 points with 6 3-pointes. Bryce Harmon had 19 points. Sam Giffin and Troy Folmer each had a 3-pointer. Ellsworth was 7-10 from the free throw line.

Mattanawcook Academy was led by Carter Ward with 25 points with 3 3-pointes. Logan Thompson and Bailey Markie each had a 3-pointer. The Lynx were 16-23 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 3-1 and will play at Old Town on Wednesday, December 21st at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio

Mattanawcook Academy in 0-4 and will play at Washington Academy on Wednesday, December 21st.
