Families are invited to join Downeast Scenic Railroad for the Pumpkin Train this weekend that includes a stop to pick-out-your-own pumpkins.

The Pumpkin Train will offer rides on Saturday and Sunday, October 15th and 16th. Each day the rides will depart the boarding platform at 245 Main Street, Ellsworth, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Folks are invited to ride the train and enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage, with some extra fun for the kids!

Each child on the one-and-a-half-hour trip will receive a free pumpkin and pumpkin decorating stickers, with the purchase of a child's train ticket. During the ride, the train will stop at the railroad's pumpkin patch and the kids can pick out a pumpkin and then decorate it during the rest of the ride!

Reservations for the Pumpkin Train are not necessary, but are encouraged. You can make a reservation by going to the website for the Downeast Scenic Railroad or by calling 1-866-449-RAIL (7425). Adult tickets are $15 each and all children's tickets, for ages 12 and under, are $8 for this special trip.

The Downeast Scenic Railroad is an all-volunteer not-for-profit excursion railroad and a project of the Downeast Rail Heritage Preservation Trust. It offers weekend excursions aboard vintage rail equipment traveling on the historic Shore Line/Calais Branch Rail line.
