Central 44 Ellsworth 23

The Ellsworth Girl's Basketball Team traveled to Corinth on Tuesday, December 13th and came up short, losing to the Central Red Devils 44-23.

Ellsworth led 9-7 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Samantha Mason had 4 points, Hannah Sargent sank a 3-pointer and Trinity Montigny had 2 points for the Eagles. For Central, Emily Smith and Sydney Allen each had 2 points, Emma Campbell was 2-2 from the free throw line and Abby Allen had 1 point.

In the 2nd Quarter, Central outscored Ellsworth 13-2 to take a 20-11 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Emily Smith and Emilee Cohen each had 4 points, Sydney Allen and Emma Campbell had 2 points each, and Libby Cook was 1-2 from the free throw line. Ellsworth's lone 2 points came at the buzzer when Trinity Montigny took a steal and raced up the court laying the ball in the basket just as time expired.

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Central 8-6 to cut the lead to 26-19 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Mason had 4 points and Katelynn Bagley and Hannah Sargent each had 2 points for Ellsworth. For Central Abby Allen had 2 points and Emily Smith and Sydney Allen each went 2-2 from the free throw line.

The 4th Quarter was all Central, as they outscored Ellsworth 18-4. Libby Cook had 6 points, Abby Allen had 5 points, Emilee Cohen had 4 points and Emily Smith and Emma Campbell each had 2 points for the Central Red Devils. All of Ellsworth's points came from the free throw line as Montigy scored 2 points and Bagley and Sargent each had a point

Central was led by Emily Smith with 10 points while Emilee Cohen had 8 points. Central was 14-19 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Samantha Mason with 8 points, while Trinity Montigny and Hannah Sargent each had 6 points. Ellsworth was 8-13 from the free throw line.

Central is now 2-0 and and plays at Houlton on Saturday, December 17th at 4:30 PM.

Ellsworth is 0-2 and plays host to GSA on Saturday, December 17th at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.
