On Thursday, May 30th a retirement party was held at the Ellsworth American to say good-bye and thank you to long time employees Terry Carlisle and Stephen Faye.

The Bar Harbor Town Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, January 15th at 7PM in the Council Chambers to consider 2 amendments to Chapter 94, Food and Merchandise Sales of the Bar Harbor Town Code: These amendments would ban the use of single use carry out bags and polystyrene foam containers within the Town of Bar Harbor.
The long awaited Ellsworth Dairy Queen Grill and Chill held their ribbon cutting on Friday, January 4th. The restaurant has been open since December 31st.
For as long as anyone can remember, the Gilfillan family has been the owner of the West End Drug Store in Bar Harbor. But, after 100 years, the West End Drug Store will be closing, as Mike and Stacey, the current owners will be retiring.
Two longtime Ellsworth businesses are slated to close this summer, with the Sears Hometown Store set to close on July 23rd and Comics Plus slated to close on August 31st.
