Bucksport Girls Defeat Searsport 48-25

The Bucksport Girl's Basketball Team defeated Searsport 48-25 on the opening night of the 2016-17 Basketball season, behind the game high 19 points of Breanna Coombs.

The score was tied 10-10 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Bucksport's Cassey Coombs had 4 points and Haley Craig, Breanna Coombs and Zoey Erickson each had 2 points. For Searsport, Mikaela Alley and Kaylee Knowles each had 3 points while Karrigan Coffin was 2-2 from the free throw line.

Bucksport took the lead at the half 21-16, outscoring Searport 11-6 in the 2nd Quarter. Erickson had 6 points, Breanna Coombs and Savannah Colson each had 2 points while Cassey Coombs went 1-2 from the free throw line for the Lady Bucks. For Searsport Audrey Walker, Knowles and Ashton Wells each had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, Bucksport put the game away, as Breanna Coombs drained 3 3-pointers and added a 2-pointer for 11 points. Cassey Coombs had 4 points and Colson and Savannah Stevenson had 2 points each. For Searsport Brooklyn Albert, Paige Ireland and Coffin each had 2 points while Alley was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter, Bucksport's defense limited Searsport to just 2 points, scored by Audrey Walker. The Lady Bucks received 4 points each from Breanna Coombs and Zoey Erickson.

Bucksport was led by Breanna Coombs with 19 points, and Zoey Erickson had 12 points. The Golden Bucks had 3 3-pointers and were 1-3 from the free throw line.

Searsport was led by Kaylee Knowles with 6 points, while Mikaela Alley had 5 points. The Vikings were 3-6 from the free throw line.

Bucksport is now 1-0 on the season and plays host to Sumner on Monday, December 12th at 5:30 PM.
