Blue Lobster Caught

While lobstering aboard the F/V Fine Lines, Abe Philbrook, a 2014 graduate of MDI High School pulled up a rare blue lobster while off the coast of MDI!

The blue lobster is a result of a genetic defect that causes the lobster to produce more of a certain protein than normal. Blue lobsters occur about one in every two million lobsters.

The lobster was thrown back into the ocean/
