At the Town Council meeting tonight, May 6, 2014, Bar Harbor Town Manager Dana Reed announced that he was stepping down, effective Thursday, May 8, 2014. The Bar Harbor Town Council voted to accept the separation agreement 6-1 with Bob Garland the lone dissenter.

Dana Reed had been the City Manager for 27 years. Reed had been under pressure, most recently for his decision to fire the police chief, Nate Young, in February 2014. There was an active facebook group, Bar Harbor Citizens for Regime Change, that was calling Reed's contract not to be renewed.
