A Bar Harbor man has died after being struck by his own vehicle.

Emergency responders were called to Cross Street in Bar Harbor, in the area of 15 Eagle Lake Road for a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle. When they arrived, officials found that it was the owner of the vehicle who had been hit.

Alexei Evsikov, 50, is a dual resident of Bar Harbor and Florida. WFVX-TV reports he was driving his Nissan van on Cross Street in Bar Harbor when it appears his vehicle malfunctioned. Evsikov apparently left the van in neutral and got out. The vehicle then rolled backward and ran over him, causing fatal injuries.

Police Departments from Bar Harbor, Mount Desert, and Ellsworth responded to the incident, as well as the Bar Harbor Fire Department.

The Memorial Resting Site for the 1963 B-52 Crash on Elephant Mountain

Just south of Moosehead Lake lies a memorial that some may not know about. The memorial is a short hike in, right on the southern slope of Elephant Mountain in Piscataquis County.

The memorial is the crash site of a B-52 Stratofortress that went down on a training mission in 1963.

The site is now a popular hiking destination for folks to learn of its history and to pay respect to the seven men who lost their lives that fateful day.

A thank you to Erin from Norway, who took these very powerful images of the site, and allowing us to tell the story through her work.
