Earl Gary III of Corinth told the courts he robbed the bank because he needed money to feed his drug addiction.

After he entered guilty pleas yesterday in court, Gary was sentenced to serve six months of a five-year prison sentence and he'll face a few years of probation after that.

Bangor Police say the TD Bank on Stillwater Avenue was held up back on January 4th and when police went to question Gary he took off in his vehicle, crashed, and then took off on foot into the nearby woods.

He was eventually arrested and charged with Eluding an Officer and Refusal to Submit to Arrest as well as other driving offenses.

Before being taken to the Penobscot County Jail he was treated at a local hospital for frostbite.

At yesterday's sentencing Gary was also ordered to pay restitution to the bank in the amount of $1,319.00.
