Smoke is a seven-year-old German Shepherd mix that was transferred to the SPCA of Hancock County from South Carolina. Unfortunately, he is a victim of divorce and is now without a family, but we're trying to take care of that for him.

Smoke is an older pup of about 8 years, but he has more love and affection than anyone would need! He loves people of all sizes, kids included, and gets along with other dogs as well.

He cannot be in a home with cats because he is a little selective with the company that he keeps.

Smoke loves to be petted and scratched and accept any affection you would like to give him. Go ahead and pour it on, because he can take it. He really loves to go on walks too!

He was diagnosed with heartworm a while back and was treated for it while in shelter care in South Carolina. To his dismay, however, he needs to have restricted exercise for a little bit due to his recovery from heartworm so that he stays as healthy as he is right now. His prognosis for the future is really good!

We know that you'd love Smoke and we know that he'd love you as well.  Make an appointment to meet this boy!

The SPCA of Hancock County serves EllsworthMount Desert Island and beyond, and is still operating by appointment-only for the safety of the animals, as well as visitors and staff. If you are looking to adopt, please check their website where they have an adoption application and the available animals listed. For general inquiries, please call them at 207-667-8088, email info@spcahancockcounty.org, or send them a Facebook message. The shelter is located on Route 3 in Trenton.
