While enjoying a bike ride in Greenwood, Indiana this guy was watching the storm clouds approaching when he noticed something else up in the clouds. So he grabbed his phone and started filming.

What he caught is a rare phenomenon called a flash crown. This happens when sunlight is reflected through the ice crystals that are just above the clouds. The ice crystals are aligned by the electro-magnet effects around the clouds, so the effect may appear as a tall streamer or pillar of light. The result is an amazing light show in the clouds..
