A Chevy Silverado?  No.  The Subaru Outback?  It's gotta be!  Well, no, it's not.....

After taking inventory cruising up and down Route 1A everyday, you'd think that a Silverado or Outback would top the list, maybe followed up by the Toyota RAV and the Ford F-150.

So what is it?  Popular Mechanics looked to analyst Tom Libby of IHS Automotive for the answer.  Libby looked at the make and model of every vehicle sold in the United States, and figured out their popularity using registration data.

Libby says that the "unofficial state car in Maine" is....the Volvo V60 Cross Country!  The car sports a starting price of $41,700.

Really?  Guess there's a lot more of those in southern Maine than on this side of Augusta!

Libby had this to say: "In Maine, the Volvo V60 Cross Country sells at 554 percent of the national average. In addition, five Subaru models, including the Impreza, Forester, XV Crosstrek, Outback and Legacy, all have market shares more than twice their national market shares."

Libby says that the Volvo V60 Cross Country is also the most popular in both Vermont and New Hampshire as well.
