The Winter Storm Watch has been turned into a Winter Storm Warning for Down East Maine, Bangor and the Upper Penobscot Valley. This includes Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Bangor, Lincoln, Perry, Cherryfield and Machias. The Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 1 PM today, Wednesday, February 15th through 1 PM on Thursday, February 16th.

The forecast for Ellsworth and Bar Harbor includes a slight chance of snow this morning then snow and rain likely this afternoon. Snow accumulation of about an inch. It will be windy, from the Southeast, 10 to 15 miles per hour with gusts up to 25 miles per hour, increasing to 20 to 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 35 miles per hour this afternoon.

Tonight, the snow will pick up in intensity, with areas of blowing snow. An additional 4 to 8 inches is expected. Easterly winds 15 to 25 miles per hour, becoming northeasterly after midnight with gusts up to 35 miles per hour.

Thursday it will be cloudy with areas of blowing snow, with snow likely in the morning then a chance of snow showers in the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 20s. Winds will be out of the Northwest, 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 35 miles per hour.
